Renewable Energy & Power Infrastructure

The following sectors represent areas where Rejkar Group has accumulated substantial project experience. In each one, our team has worked across multiple technologies, geographies, and project types — building the practical knowledge that only comes from doing the work.

Solar PV Plants

01

Solar PV Plants

Solar photovoltaic generation is central to the global energy mix, and delivering PV projects well demands more than familiarity with modules and inverters. It demands a thorough understanding of electrical system design, protection coordination, grid connection requirements, and the practical challenges of large-scale construction. Rejkar Group has that understanding, and we bring it to bear on every project we are involved in — from small commercial installations to utility-scale ground-mounted plants exceeding 100 MW.

We work across fixed-tilt and single-axis horizontal tracker (SAHT) configurations, with all major central and string inverter architectures, and with both conventional MV transformer stations and skid-mounted compact secondary substations. Our involvement typically spans the full electrical scope — from DC string level through the MV collector network to the point of connection with the high voltage grid.

Technical scope:

  • DC system design: string sizing, combiner box specification, DC cable sizing and routing

Wind Plants

Onshore wind energy is a mature and cost-competitive technology, but the electrical engineering required to deliver a wind farm correctly is both specialised and demanding. Collection system design, turbine electrical interfaces, substation integration, protection philosophy, and grid code compliance all require a depth of knowledge that generalist engineering firms often lack. Rejkar Group fills that gap.

We provide electrical engineering and project management support for onshore wind projects from early-stage layout and grid connection assessment through to commissioning and handover. Our team is experienced with the electrical requirements of major turbine manufacturers and with the grid connection obligations imposed by transmission and distribution system operators across multiple markets.

High Voltage Substations

High voltage substations are technically complex, safety-critical assets that sit at the heart of any power system. Whether they serve as the grid connection point for a renewable energy plant, the reinforcement node in a distribution or transmission network, or the supply infrastructure for a large industrial customer, getting the engineering right matters enormously. Rejkar Group provides specialist substation engineering across the full voltage range, from 11 kV distribution substations to 400 kV transmission installations.

Our engineers are experienced in both Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation designs, in primary and secondary system engineering, and in the detailed protection and control work that underpins safe, reliable substation operation.

Technical scope:

  • Primary substation design: busbar configurations, bay layouts, equipment arrangement drawings
  • HV and MV switchgear specification — AIS and GIS technologies
  • Power transformer, autotransformer, and shunt reactor specification
  • Protection engineering: differential, distance, overcurrent, directional earth fault, and busbar protection
  • Relay coordination studies and protection setting calculations
  • Secondary systems: control and protection panels, marshalling kiosks, terminal schedules, wiring diagrams
  • Substation SCADA, RTU, and telecommunications system design
  • Earthing and bonding design compliant with ENA EG1, BS EN 50522, and IEEE 80
  • Civil and structural interface specification for substation compound and building works
  • FAT attendance, commissioning supervision, and energisation management

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Battery energy storage has moved from niche application to mainstream infrastructure asset in a remarkably short period. Grid operators worldwide are now actively procuring BESS capacity to manage frequency, absorb surplus generation, and defer network investment. Developers are co-locating storage with solar and wind to maximise revenue and improve grid compliance. And industrial customers are deploying behind-the-meter storage to control demand charges and improve resilience.

Rejkar Group has developed its BESS engineering capability to address all of these applications. We understand the electrical architecture of utility-scale battery systems, the demands they place on protection and control infrastructure, and the grid code obligations that govern how they must perform. We bring that knowledge to every BESS engagement — from initial concept through to performance testing and commercial operation.

Technical scope:

  • BESS technology appraisal and system configuration support (LFP chemistry, container and rack formats, PCS selection)
  • DC architecture design and power conversion system (PCS) specification
  • MV electrical interface design between BESS and the wider plant or network
  • Power management system (PMS) and energy management system (EMS) specification
  • Grid code compliance: frequency response capability, reactive power range, fault ride-through performance
  • Protection coordination including DC protection, PCS protection, and MV overcurrent schemes
  • Fire detection, suppression, and safety system interface design
  • BESS container arrangement and civil interface specification
  • Commissioning test procedure development, FAT planning, and on-site commissioning oversight
  • BESS performance and capacity verification testing
  • Owner’s Engineer services throughout EPC procurement and project delivery

LV, MV & HV Transmission Networks

The transmission and distribution network is the infrastructure that connects generation to consumers, and its upgrade and expansion is one of the central challenges of the energy transition. Ageing assets, increased renewable connection volumes, new load patterns driven by electrification, and the need for greater operational flexibility are all placing the network under pressure. Rejkar Group helps utilities, network operators, and independent developers to address these challenges through sound, practical network engineering.

We cover the full voltage range from low voltage consumer connections through medium voltage distribution feeders to high voltage transmission circuits. Our team is experienced in both overhead line and underground cable technologies, and in the protection and automation systems that ensure networks operate safely and reliably.

  • Route selection, corridor feasibility, and constraint mapping
  • Protection and automation engineering: feeder protection, auto-reclosers, sectionalising switches, and intertripping schemes
  • Network modelling, load flow analysis, and fault level assessment
  • Grid connection engineering and offer letter technical review
  • Asset condition assessment and life extension or refurbishment specification
  • Substation interface engineering for new or modified network connections
  • Construction supervision and energisation management
